About Urbivor.

Urbivor is geared to be governed by an eight-member Board of Directors representing expertise in public health, food systems, finance, community engagement, philanthropy, and nonprofit governance. The organization's staffing structure includes leadership, program management, volunteer coordination, food recovery logistics, and administrative support positions designed to support sustainable growth and measurable community impact throughout Wake County.

Tracking the movement

April 2025

Urbivor was formed as a movement on the UNC Chapel Hill campus and later formed into a non-profit organization.

May 2025

Hosted summer meals program with personal funds for Wake County food insecure kids in Wake County

November 2025

Hosted two families for Wake County Holiday Cheer Thanksgiving Giveaway. Both families received $250 worth of groceries.

 

Filed as a 501 (c) 3 Non-profit organization with the IRS.

Town of Zebulon Board of Commissioners recognized Urbivor as a 'Rising Non-Profit' and awarded a $2,000 mini-grant to support services for food insecure Zebulon residents and families.
